I've worked closely with both women and men with fertility issues for over 10 years, If you're trying naturally or planning assisted conception, I aim to offer you support throughout the whole process. I'll draw on my experience to offer you a realistic fertility plan which will include dietary, lifestyle and Chinese medicine advice tailored to you.

The ongoing process of IVF, or trying for a much wanted baby, can become very stressful to the mind and body. Acupuncture can help you relax, by reducing stress and anxiety, aiding restful sleep, and promoting good intrinsic health and wellbeing.

If you've been given a diagnosis that may make your chances of conception more difficult, or if the doctor hasn't been able to find any particular explanation, I would love to talk to you to see if acupuncture and chinese medicine can help.

If you're undergoing IVF, so much rests on the treatment that you can’t help but feel stressed and anxious, add to that the side effects of medication on body and mind. During IVF  I would usually recommend weekly treatments leading up to embryo transfer to help balance stress hormones and promote blood flow to ovaries and uterus to optimise chances of success. I can also do a treatment on the day of embryo transfer as some studies suggest that acupuncture at the time of embryo transfer may increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.

How acupuncture can help:

From a Chinese medicine point of view, we would work with your body's monthly cycle. Through regulating and balancing the four phases of the cycle, treatment can be targeted to:

  • Regulate the length of cycle and help with PMS and period pain

Acupuncture can help dreaded PMS symptoms by regulating blood chemicals and neurotransmitters, helping you feel calmer and more relaxed.

Acupuncture may help period symptoms by changing the way the brain processes pain messages. It may also reduce uterine artery blood flow and uterine muscle cramps.

  • improve egg quality and follicular development

Acupuncture may improve the blood supply to the ovaries and uterus, assisting ovulation and implantation. There's also some evidence that acupuncture can affect the levels of fertility hormones.

  • improve lining of the endometrium

Increased blood flow can help to improve endometrial thickness

  • PCOS

There's increasing evidence to support the use of acupuncture for PCOS patients.

It is thought that acupuncture has an effect on the nerve supply to the ovaries, influencing blood and hormone production, which can greatly help PCOS sufferers.

Other gynaecological or hormonal conditions which can respond to acupuncture may include; pelvic pain, endometriosis, menstrual disorders menopausal symptoms and bladder issues.
